1. Leak Barrier Protection
A roof’s most vulnerable areas are often around the eaves, rakes, valleys, chimneys, skylights, and other penetrations. That is why we install WeatherWatch Mineral-Surfaced Leak Barrierin critical areas where added waterproofing protection matters most.
WeatherWatch helps guard against leaks caused by wind-driven rain, ice dams, backed-up gutters, and roof settling, and it self-seals around fasteners to help reduce the risk of leaks. For homeowners along the Jersey Shore and surrounding areas, that extra protection is important where weather exposure can be tough on a roofing system.
2. Roof Deck Protection / Underlayment
Under the shingles, we install FeltBuster Synthetic Roofing Felt as the roof deck protection layer.
FeltBuster is a synthetic underlayment designed to help provide long-lasting protection against wind-driven rain from infiltrating beneath the shingles. It is a major upgrade over basic felt in many applications and is a key part of the GAF Lifetime Roofing System.
3. Starter Strip Shingles
At the roof edges, we use Pro-Start Starter Strip Shingles to help lock down the first course of shingles.
Starter strips are one of the most overlooked parts of a quality roofing system, but they play an important role in helping prevent shingle blow-offs. GAF states that Pro-Start is made with a properly positioned factory-applied adhesive to help protect vulnerable roof edges at the eaves and rakes.
4. Lifetime Shingles
For the main field of the roof, we feature Timberline HDZ Shingles — GAF’s #1-selling shingle line.
Timberline HDZ shingles are powered by proprietary LayerLock Technology, which GAF says powers the StrikeZone nailing area, the industry’s widest nailing zone. They are also eligible for the WindProven Limited Wind Warranty when installed with the required combination of qualifying GAF accessories. 5. Ridge Cap Shingles
At the hips and ridges, we install Seal-A-Ridge Ridge Cap Shingles for a finished look and added protection in high-stress areas of the roof.
The ridge and hip lines take constant weather exposure, so they need materials designed specifically for those areas. Seal-A-Ridge is part of the complete GAF system and helps finish the roof properly while supporting long-term durability and appearance.
6. Attic Ventilation
A complete roofing system also needs proper attic ventilation. That’s why we install Cobra Rigid Vent 3 Exhaust Vent for Roof Ridge where appropriate as part of a balanced ventilation system.
GAF states that Cobra Rigid Vent 3 allows heat and moisture to escape at the ridge and provides 18 square inches per linear foot of net free ventilating area. Proper ventilation helps support the long-term performance of the roofing system by reducing excess attic heat and moisture buildup.
