G&C started this job by removing the old asphalt roof shingles and cleaning the plywood roof deck. Before they begin replacing the shingles, the roof is checked for structural integrity, rot and water damage. Valley flashing and chimney flashing are replaced, all vent pipe collars are inspected and replaced as needed. The new roof begins with the installation of IKO storm shield ice and water protector. This is done to protect the roof perimeter from ice back up and wind blown rain.  G&C Home Improvements then laid down a layer of 30 lb. ASTM felt paper as an underlayment to the roof shingles. Armour guard starter shingles from IKO are used as the initial roof course. The homeowners selected IKO dimensional shingles that give the roof a great architectural appearance. IKO roof shingles come with a lifetime warranty when applied by a certified contractor using the manufacture specified installation technique. This job was completed with a detailed clean up and proper disposal of all debris.
